60 Day – Day By Day Budget Fast

This is my attempt at a 60 day Day-by-Day Fast based on my experience and my best guess at given produce amounts. you mileage may vary. I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I am not a trained nutritionist.  I’m just a guy that lost 50lbs in 60 days doing this, and has gone on to lose (currently 98lbs).  A lot of people have asked for this and I am happy to oblige as best as possible.

I was able to do my fast on roughly $40 a week for myself.  I did not buy organic unless it just happened to be so.  I used a blender specifically a blendtec blender I bought on sale at Costco.  Blenders don’t use as much produce as juicers.  According to the Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead movie a non-organic juice fast should cost roughly $14 a day and an organic on closer to $30.

(I’m going to write this in 5 day/1week installments till done)

I REALLY SUGGEST Starting on a Friday preferably a 4 day weekend.

  2. This is GREAT Chris!! I think it will be super helpful to those just starting out and especially those who are using a blender. Like you said above, it’s important to note that blending uses WAY less produce than juicing does. And along these same lines, folks need to know that you don’t need the “5-6 juices per day” as called for on Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead website, only the 3 IF you are using a blender, since we are eating/drinking the whole vegetable and fruit.

  3. Chris: Thank you so much for your efforts. I am planning on starting very soon…perhaps this Friday, and this really helps. While I have a juicer (very similar to Joe Cross’), I too like the idea of blending because you get fiber, use less produce and can add things like nuts. I will keep you posted.

  4. Thank you for all that you’ve shared! What an inspiration and oh so practical. I’m on day 2…sipping on my morning juice as I type this…wanted to send you a pic but can’t find how to do that here. Keep writing, there are those of us out here looking to you and Joe as our compass on our journey. Again, thank you Chris…great job!

    • Thank you so much! You can send an e-mail to chris [at] chrishollomon.com I love to here these stories and I’ll keep writing!

  5. Chris, thanks so much for sharing this info. I’ve recently watched the video, which is how I found you via the SF&ND website. I am preparing to start this week – want to shoot for a 60 day, but am really terrified – not only if I can do it, but of the sheer cost of doing the juicing. I bought a juicer last week. Anyway, you’ve given me more inspiration to know it can be done on a budget, and also about running – want to do that too eventually – was nice to read how to start when you have a lot to lose. I have just over 150 lbs that need to go.

  6. Nan…best to you on choosing to be good to you! Keep your nose into and eyes on juicing blogs for ideas and support. Chris has done an outstanding job with the shopping lists and recipe ideas, cuts a lot of time and still leaves room for your own personal preferances and adjustments. I’m on day 4 and feeling extraordinarily good. I also cold-turkeyed coffee…all I can say is I must have been ready and sick and tired of being sick and tired. BTW…I’ve quit saying I’m going to “lose” weight as I never want to find it again..haha! Stay connected and happy juicing!

    • Thanks for the compliments! Nan congrats on making this huge achievement! I look forward to seeing your progress! You find no bigger cheerleader then me! You will be in my prayers! PP: thanks to you too! Thanks for posting and helping others. This journey is 90% mental and changing your language is such a powerful tool. Keep up the great work!

  7. my Husband and I just started a cleanse your way also – we started on Thursday nite (May 23, 2013) after getting our new blender – by Ninja (awesome blender btw) My start weight was 255 and his was 183.7 – we have been on our weight loss journey for 2 years following Jorge Cruize’s “Belly Fat Cure” – which has helped me lose 70 lbs (on and off during this time frame) — Monday is our official weigh in day – but we are so excited as I have lost alreadiy 4.5 lbs and Hubby has lost 8.1 lbs !! not sure exactly how long we will be sticking with it — hopefully we can make it a 60 day event – as 56 lbs will put me in 1derland – where I would be weighing one hundred and something – so 56 lbs would be 199 — have not been there in years and years !!! Looking forward to our Journey – but Hubby only has about 25 or so more lbs to go for his Journey ! So Happy for him and he is working out in the Gym now — I am hoping to join him soon !

  8. where did you buy the sprout protein?? can a processor wo Rt k for a blender? or should i go ahead and get a blender? thank you. keep up the good work

    • The sprout protein came from ‘the vitamin shoppe’. They also sell it at whole foods now, and it comes in flavors now too. Vanilla flavor and orange/citrus fruits go well together.

As far as a processor goes, I guess I would depend on the processor. Not all blenders can make ‘juice’ your processor will need to be able to emulsify and breakdown green leafy veggies so that it breaks out the juice, and leaves so pulp there but it would be indecernable, think orange juice with pulp, as opposed to a chutney consistency. The only blender I KNOW from personal experience that do thesis is te Blendtec blenders which I own, the vitamix, and the nutribullet ( which ive seen and tasted from freinds.). Good luck!

  9. where did you get the sprout powder? could a food processor work? or is a blender better? congratulations! ur an inspiration.

  10. I’ve scoured your website and am truly inspired. I bought a Ninja several months ago. I had NO IDEA that you could add water … I feel silly. I don’t have money lying around to purchase a juicer, although I’m hoping someone gets the hint when my birthday rollls around. I am going to definitely try it out with my blender; I enjoyed reading your blogs and reading about your experiences throughout the fast. I am a mom (& stepmom) to 7 children: My goal is to lose weight and see every one of our girls get married and have children! I refuse to let my weight hold me down. Thank you for your real stories of struggle and success in this journey! I hope to share mine one day and inspire someone else! 🙂

    • Thanks you for responding, I know I haven’t posted in a bit but thy will change very soon! Glad your on this journey and feel free to ask me anything you want!
